Scholarshp applications for Edition 3 of the SMACCs (for studies starting in September 2026) have been closed. Self-funded students may still apply following this link (30th April 2026 for students who need a VISA, 8th June 2026 for students who do not need a VISA).

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) SMACCs is a unique 2-year 120 ECTS Master Degree, aiming at educating the next generation of engineers and scientists in Smart Cities and Communities. It benefits from funding from the 

The SMACCs implements a curriculum specialized on fundamental pillars of a city sustainability, i.e. Energy, Transport, Buildings, Urban Planning and ICT as a key enabling factor for implementing sustainable solutions. 

The SMACCs proposes an international curriculum jointly designed and delivered by 4 European Higher Education Institutions: University of Mons (Belgium), International Hellenic University (Greece), University of the Basque Country (Spain) and Univeristy of Vaasa (Finland). The programme relies on compulsory physical mobility between the four universities, with the support of more than 50 public or private Associated Partners from Europe and the whole world, in order to boost the students’ exposure to the professional and academic sectors.

DEADLINES

The maximum number of students per Edition (or cohort) will be 40. The SMACCs consortium reserves the right to modify that number for every Edition.

At least four Editions will be enrolled in the SMACCs (2024-2026, 2025-2027, 2026-2028, 2027-2029)

Application deadlines for general programme admission for the student Editions are:

• Students who want to apply for Erasmus Mundus (or other) Scholarship(s): 1^st March 2024 / 15th March 2024 / 1^st February 2025 / 15th Feburary 2025 /  1^st February 2026 / 1^st February 2027
• NEW: INTERVIEWS for best admissible applicants: 7th-18th April 2025 / April 2026 / April 2027
• Self-funded students who need VISA for studies: 30^th April 2024 / 30^th April 2025 / 30^th April 2026 / 30^th April 2027
• Self-funded students who do not need a VISA: 8^th June 2024 / 8th June 2025 / 8th June 2026 / 8th June 2027

Applicants who have applied for scholarships are informed about their status by May 25th 2024/May 9th 2025/2026/2027.

Self-funded applicants who need VISA for studies are informed about their status by May 25th 2024/ May 25th 2025/2026/2027.

Self-funded applicants who do not need a VISA are informed about their status by June 30th 2024/ June 23rd 2025/2026/2027.
